Donald Campus History

The Donald Campus of East Wimmera Health Service has been on its current site since 1950 through the donation of the land by B.M. Basset. This was the first of many examples of the generosity of the community and the proactive work done by those in governance. The important milestones at Donald reflect the changing trends in health care. The Hospital was renovated and an Aged Care facility was built in 1984. In 1993 the two buildings were connected and an administration area was created. What was once a Nurses Home was converted to a Primary Care Centre in 1997 and the most recent addition was a helipad completed in August 2007.

The Campus site also holds the Ambulance Station staffed by Volunteers. The Donald Family Clinic is also on site facilitating access for the Community, Inpatients and EWHS Staff to the Medical Practitioners.
